A blaze in a commercial complex killed nine persons out of which three jumped to their death from the top. Carlton Towers, a multi-storeyed commercial complex, in the city of Bangalore in India, caught fire and injured dozens of people.
According to reports, three persons died after jumping from the top floors of the eight-storeyed building while six more died as a result of burns and asphyxiation.
More than 70 people were injured with 22 of them being admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.
According to the firemen: “The fire began in a lift service cable in the second floor and spread through the duct with smoke engulfing the remaining floors. More than the fire it was the smoke that caused panic”.
Carlton towers is a famous commercial tower in the IT city of Bangalore.
